Our client, a FTSE 250 listed company and market leading property business, is looking to recruit a Legal Manager / In-House Property Lawyer, to join their highly regarded team.

The role will initially be office based in York with hybrid working offered after 6 months.

The position will involve the preparation of documents in connection with the setting up of sites for plot sales and dealing with all development matters arising in the course of residential developments, including road and sewer agreements, drainage and service easements, transfers of public open space, management companies and residual land sales.

The role will also include the following:

  • Supporting and actively managing a team of 12 conveyancers on a day to day basis, advising and assisting on issues which arise during plot sales and part exchange transactions and where appropriate, dealing with plot sales and part exchange transactions.
  • Dealing with reversion sales, deeds of variation and other miscellaneous conveyancing matters
  • Assisting the Company Solicitor and Group Solicitor (where required) in relation to regulatory matters, training, drafting precedents and other matters
  • Playing an active role in the development of the Group's case management system
  • Attending meetings with sales staff where required
  • Conducting yearly appraisals and auditing files at regular intervals
  • Training conveyancers and Assistant Conveyancers in connection with title checks, plot conveyancing and deed of variations.

To be considered for this role it is essential that you are an England and Wales Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive (Fellow or CLC qualification), with a solid background in commercial or residential conveyancing. Previous experience of handling plots sales and dealing with related development matters is also preferred along with supervisory experience and strong communication skills.
