Planner - Roofing

Our client is a specialist contractor for fully supported, hard metal roofing and cladding for commercial and residential properties in the UK and overseas. They also have a flat roofing division, offering all of the UK's largest manufacturers' systems.

They are looking to add a Programmer/Planner to their growing and experienced team. You will be responsible for managing project timelines using planning software, coordinate between teams, and produce progress reports. You will also adjust programmes for delays and collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and estimators.

  • Monday - Friday 08:00 - 5:00 (Office based).

Responsibilities

  • Creating, maintaining and reviewing a programme of work (both in pre-contract and post contract stages).
  • Producing progress reports and revising programmes and forecasts for team members using planning//programme software (Microsoft Project or Asta).
  • Breaking large projects down into phases of development.
  • Using project management tools to plan timeframes.
  • Working with Estimators to calculate the resources needed for a project.
  • Planning contingency programmes in case timeframes change.
  • Meeting with contractors and suppliers and discuss and review programme issues and discussions.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of construction (mainly with roofing and façade works).
  • Working between office-based staff and site based staff to ensure consistency on programmes and sequence.
  • Producing procurement/design programmes in line with agreed construction programmes.
  • Critical reviews of programmes for Extension of Time Requests, identifying delays, hold ups and additional works.
  • Basic understanding of requirements for Extension of Times/Compensation Events so can be accurately reflected within programmes.

Requirements

  • Able to use a computer and the main software packages competently (e.g. Microsoft Project, Asta).
  • Approximately 5 years of planning experience.
  • Knowledge of building construction and sequence.
  • UK driving licence.
