DevOps Support Engineer
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
Location: Fully Remote (UK-based, right to work in the UK required)

Seeking a DevOps Support Engineer to work alongside the DevOps Lead. You'll be the first point of contact for our helpdesk, handling everything from basic user requests to more complex technical issues. This role will involve working with both on-premises customer systems and cloud deployments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the primary point of contact for the helpdesk, managing a wide range of user queries and technical tickets in line with SLAs (e.g., password resets, resolving issues with Tomcat, Apache, MariaDB)
  • Support on-premises customers with configuration and troubleshooting of their servers.
  • Perform maintenance and management of the cloud infrastructure on AWS.

Essential Technical Skills:

  • Strong Linux admin experience (Debian 12 / Ubuntu 20.04 / 22.04).
  • Competence in Bash scripting & Ansible.
  • AWS core services: EC2, Security Groups, EBS, S3, IAM, ALB, VPC/networking.
  • Helpdesk experience with ticket escalation and prioritization (Jira or other systems).
  • A security-first approach to all technical work.

Desirable Technical Skills:

  • Experience with setting up and running web applications: DNS, SSL, Apache, HTTP protocols, Tomcat.
  • Experience with MariaDB administration and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with Git/GitHub.
  • Knowledge of RedHat Linux.
  • Understanding of Docker or container-based systems.
