Myn is on the lookout for dedicated Social Workers for our long-term client in the South East of England. This is your chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of families and children in need.

Role Purpose:

You will work closely with families, respecting their rights and partnering with them to recognise strengths and identify needs. Your focus will be on promoting the upbringing of children within their families, ensuring their welfare comes first.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Triage: Assess contacts to determine if they meet the threshold for a statutory social work assessment.
  • Family Support: Develop SMART plans that address family needs and reduce risks to children.
  • Collaborate with families and professionals to monitor progress.
  • Child Protection Investigations: Conduct investigations when necessary, involving families in creating plans for change.
  • Legal Proceedings: Initiate discussions for legal proceedings when families cannot be engaged to provide adequate care.
  • Placement Identification: Work with colleagues to find high-quality placements for children, prioritising stability and resilience.
  • Record Maintenance: Ensure all social work records, assessments, and plans are maintained according to practice standards.
  • Collaborative Communication: Foster relationships with legal services and family courts to manage court proceedings effectively.
  • Practice Promotion: Engage in regular supervision and reflect on practice to improve outcomes for children and families.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience: Previous experience in social work, particularly with children and families.
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding: Understanding forms of abuse and neglect, and the ability to differentiate between significant impairment and harm.
  • Motivational Skills: Ability to engage parents in behaviour change through motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Assessment Skills: Experience in strengths-based assessments, involving family members in developing plans.
  • Organisational Skills: High level of administrative and organisational abilities.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with families and stakeholders.
  • Team Player: Willingness to collaborate across teams and services to provide integrated support.
