HR & Recruitment Advisor

Our client is seeking an experienced HR & Recruitment Advisor for their highly reputable horticultural company. If you already have knowledge of this type of industry and an interest in it, this would definitely be helpful. Our client has a well-established business and is looking for someone with a passion for recruitment and a desire to find new and innovative ways of attracting staff. This is a pivotal role performing various HR functions as well as recruitment, employee relations, performance management, policies and procedures, compliance and benefit administration.

Hours: Full time: 40 hours - 2 mornings a week 7.30am start. Part time from 30 hours also considered.

Recruitment Responsibilities

  • Conduct 360 recruitment and attract and retain the best talent
  • Review, screen and interview applicants.
  • Update current and design new recruiting procedures (e.g. job application and onboarding processes)
  • Implement new sourcing methods (e.g. social recruiting and Boolean searches)
  • Research and choose job advertising options
  • Advise managers on interviewing techniques and manage recruitment process
  • Advise on techniques to retain staff members
  • Participate in job fairs and career events
  • Build the company's professional network through relationships with HR professionals, colleges and other partners
  • Apply for DBS or MOD clearance for employees or new starters, if required.

HR Responsibilities

  • Design and work across HR projects
  • Advise managers and provide guidance on HR policy and procedures
  • Keep up to date with UK employment legislation
  • Manage investigations and employee relations issues including disciplinary and grievance
  • Conduct back to work interviews on first day back from sick.
  • Conduct exit interviews
  • Ensure employee relation cases are managed to meet best practice requirements
  • Develop and maintain HR policies
  • Monitor and develop performance appraisal systems
  • Monitor all employee records to include maternity, paternity requests and absence and sickness and provide regular reports to the senior management team
  • Manage holiday requests and holiday calendar
  • Manage HR personnel files to ensure they are kept up-to-date
  • Develop and maintain starter and leaver procedures
  • Act as the interface with finance team for payroll (some payroll experience would be nice to have but not essential).
  • Organise training skills matrix and on-going training.
  • Conduting inductions and uniform issuing

Person Specification

  • Proven HR and recruitment generalist experience
  • Thorough, up-to-date knowledge of employment law
  • Have an interest in Employee relations
  • Ability to work autonomously and be hands-on
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Previous industry knowledge (horticulture) would be helpful
  • Able to think strategically as well as operationally, with a mind-set of improvement

Education and Experience:

  • CIPD Level 3 Qualified as a minimum
  • Minimum of two years of experience of working in HR with recruitment being a large part of the role
