We are working with a real innovator in their field in their search to recruit a Scientific Sales Engineer. The organisation are advancing the possibilities in science and the successful Scientific Sales Engineer will play an exciting and lead role in taking their innovative products to market. The Scientific Sales Engineer will be home office based and will be working with a global customer base. You will ideally be located in North West England so you can access their Head Office, although they are open to considering candidates from around the UK with the right experience, providing they are willing to travel to Head Office (frequently during the first few months to learn technical specifications then regular office visits for sales/training/product development activities).

The successful Scientific Sales Engineer will take the lead in day to day sales to existing customers and developing new business opportunities. Their customers cover a broad range of industries from microelectronics and semi-conductors, to materials, advanced precision manufacturing and academic research. Your customer base will be global so travel will be minimal and likely to include a couple of international trips per month to attend events/exhibitions and to progress/develop sales and occasional to support the implementation of the instruments.

The organisation are seeking an ambitious, pro-active and enthusiastic Scientific Sales Engineer. They are looking for an experienced scientific sales person will a proven track record selling in to a similar customer base. This is a highly technical sell so the preferred Scientific Sales Engineer will have hands-on experience with microscopy or related inspection devices. This company develop products that are at the leading edge of microscopy and pushing the boundaries of technology development. You will have a keen interest in science and will be looking for a role that is at the cutting edge. You'll be joining a small team and in addition to sales, you'll get the opportunity to support the customer with new user training and product instillation (full training provided).

Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Support in the development of the sales strategy and market mapping.
  • Engage in outbound sales activities, often by online meetings, calls and emails as well as occasional client visits
  • Support in the development of a CRM to detail and progress existing customers and categories prospects and suspects
  • Network within Research/Industry organisations and attend key sector events and academic symposium
  • Support in the development of marketing material, presentations and associated literature
  • Provide technical advice and support to customers; including some product training/application support
  • Understand market trends and client demands, feeding back product innovation opportunities to the R&D team
  • Accurate forecasting of sales pipeline to management

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Proven field Sales experience
  • Background selling lab/scientific instrumentation
  • Degree in a scientific or engineering discipline (Master's or Ph.D. preferred but not mandatory).
  • Hands-on experience with microscopy & applications (any super-res experience would be advantageous)
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and explain complex scientific concepts.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Able to travel internationally to meet with clients and attend industry events (likely to be 2-3 trips per qtr)
