Our client is a well-established and expanding manufacturing company based in Birmingham and due to their current growth, they are now looking to recruit for the position of a CNC Programmer.

The successful applicant will be based at their production facility in Birmingham city centre.

The Role

As part of a larger strategy to increase their productivity across the business, they are looking to add a skilled and flexible machinist to the team, who's role will be to support the incumbent CNC team with all aspects of their daily tasks as required, while also supporting our Manufacturing Engineers with lean and 5s projects.

They anticipate this will be a highly varied role, with approximately 80% of your time spent out on the shop floor initially. Your day-to-day activities could include.

  • Working as a hands-on machinist on either Fanuc or Mazak VMC's
  • Providing absence cover where required.
  • Documenting existing processes to create SOP's.
  • Carrying out TPM /PPM activities
  • Programming either at the control or on our CAM system.
  • Proving Out.
  • Providing support and Knowledge to our Apprentice.
  • Working on lean or 5S projects.

This role would suit somebody with several years' experience of programming Fanuc VMC's, in a wide range of materials, who is looking to progress into the role of a Manufacturing Engineer, or an existing M.E. who's not afraid to get their hands dirty still. Any turning or Mazatrol knowledge will be a bonus.

  • Completed apprenticeship or related degree.
  • Extensive experiencing in setting and running CNC machines.
  • Ability to read drawings including GD&T symbols.
  • A flexible and ‘can do' attitude.

  • Mazatrol Experience.
  • Green Belt Six Sigma.
  • Cad/Cam Exposure.
  • Turning knowledge.
  • Competency with MS Excel, Word.
  • CMM operating.
  • Jig & Fixture Design.
