A leading Export business based in the outskirts of Guildford is seeking an experienced Shipping Coordinator to join and small and friendly team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • To receive, unpack and check goods in warehouse
  • Pack or repack goods into export cartons
  • Arrange to despatch goods to port with correct paperwork attached, ensure the goods are marked correctly with shipping marks
  • Check all purchase orders to factories and order acknowledgments from factories against paperwork
  • Liaise with factories and customers to ensure the smooth completion of export order
  • Check invoices from suppliers and file in file folder
  • Enter order acknowledgement
  • Check proforma invoice for advance payment to suppliers and pass them on to accounts department for payment
  • Call forward goods from factories or arrange for freight forwarder to collect
  • To prepare export shipping invoice and packing list and obtain all other shipping documents - certificate of origin or bill of lading or airway bill, insurance policy
  • To be able to bank shipping documents
  • To be able to liaise with insurance companies if a claim needs to be made
  • To liaise with overseas agents / customers / supplier by phone/email to ensure the smooth running of customers order
  • To prepare the correct documents against a letter of credit
  • To organise and prepare all letters and parcels for posting with the post office and organise despatch of couriers
  • To hold meetings with various suppliers / customers in the office if required to do so and possibly visit various companies in the UK during the working day if required to do so

Previous experience:

  • At least 2 years' experience in a similar Shipping/ Logistics position.
  • Have excellent attention to detail, written and communication skills.
