The National Trust is renowned for its food and hospitality. We run 185 cafes, tea-rooms and restaurants all over England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and we'd love you to join us.

We're looking for a Food and Beverage Team Member. In this role, you'd be making a real difference to the work of the National Trust, as well as helping to give people a memorable day out.

This location is in a rural area, so please think about how you'd get here for work, before applying for the job.

Benefits: We want to help you look after the things that matter to you, such as saving for your future, getting a discount on your weekly shop, or encouraging you to find a work-life balance. Please read our package, below, to see what benefits we offer you.

Hours: The hours of role are flexible to suit your needs, and vary based on the opening times of the property. During winter they will be 1-3 days a week (6-18 hours), and depending on your availability could be up to 5 days a week during the summer (April-September)

This role is an hourly paid, fixed term position. Wherever possible, we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we're looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We'd give you as much notice of this as possible. The role will include weekends and Bank Holidays, however, there are no evenings or split shifts.

Salary: £11.50 per hour.

Duration: Fixed Term Contract until 28th February 2026

Interview date: between 28th October and 10th November

For this role, you'll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

What it's like to work here

We are a team of 30, and having just finished a record-breaking season, we are looking for new people to join. Tasks involve everything from processing transactions, serving food, making drinks, scooping ice cream, clearing tables, pot washing and possibly shifts in the kitchen also. You will be provided with full training on each section and a buddy system will be in place to provide support from within the team as well as from management. There are three catering outlets on the property and some aspect of lone working may be involved for periods of time when working outside of the main restaurant. The hours the property is open varies throughout the year (3 days a week in winter to 7 days a week in summer) so hours can vary but can also be adapted to suit your needs and availability. Beningbrough is currently undergoing a period of redevelopment as we look to expand our capacity and growth so the Food & Beverage team is expected to keep growing year on year, meaning there is plenty of opportunity to develop yourself and your skills.

Please note that Beningbrough Hall is located 8 miles from York city centre with no public transport.
