On behalf of the Open University, Pertemps is recruiting several Data Annotators to contribute to an exciting research project focused on dialogue analysis.
About the Role:
In this role, you will work with dialogue transcripts featuring two individuals collaborating on a Python programming task. Your primary responsibility will be to review and refine annotations from the text, identifying when mentions in the dialogue refer to elements in the code or other dialogue segments. You will be using a web interface and Excel sheets to complete your annotations, with the support of video recordings and accompanying .json files for context.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and label references to code and dialogue segments in the provided files.
- Review and revise preliminary linguistic annotations provided for dialogue transcripts.
- Determine whether speakers use cursor positioning to reference entities in the dialogue.
- Collaborate with researchers and attend team meetings for training and discussion of test results.
Essential Skills:
- Basic understanding of English grammar
- Strong reading and listening comprehension.
- Basic passive knowledge of Python (coding not required, but understanding of basic Python programming terms is essential).
Technical Requirements:
- Access to Microsoft Office Suite
- Windows machine to support software (compatibility is possible on Mac systems however Windows is preferred)
Commitment:
- Initial fixed commitment of 2 hours for a training session.
- 1-1.5 days for test annotation in the first fortnight, and 1-1.5 days for test annotation in the second fortnight.
- After training and initial tests, flexible working hours with an expected commitment of at least 4 days per month for 2 months.
