A thriving business has opened up a brand new role for a data professional with experience in data administration and data engineering. The office is based in central Birmingham, close to major transport links!

You will be joining a wider Data and Technology team and take responsibility for delivering their data and IT strategy. It's an excellent opportunity to design, build and improve their existing capabilities with a mindset to constantly strive for delivering industry best practices.

The Role:

This is an exciting role for an ambitious professional who is ready to share their data engineering and database administration expertise with a fantastic company. You must have a confident and enthusiastic attitude ready to develop fantastic solutions that will contribute to their ongoing success.

The role will require your database administration experiences such as monitoring database performance, assessing company infrastructure and ensuring data governance, combined with your data engineer experience to assist in migrations. It's a really exciting opportunity to put all your experiences to use!

This role is being offered as 1-3 days per week in the office after you have finished your induction period.

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will be a results-orientated with a strong analytical mindset. We're looking for someone who's got that start-up mentality and able to make quick and confident decisions. You'll be working at a company that values being a team-player and collaborating with stakeholders so great communication skills are essential!

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor database performance for efficient data retrieval
  • Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss
  • Undertake maintenance tasks to ensure system stability
  • Install, configure and maintain SQL servers in various environments
  • Assist in ensuring optimal database performance
  • Incident management and recommend solutions
  • Analyzing and automating tasks
  • Build solutions from scratch
  • Adopt new technologies into the company stack and experiment with new solutions
  • Ensure proper data governance
  • Implement and manage database security

Requirements:

  • Azure
  • SQL
  • SSIS
  • Microsoft Windows
  • Experience with migrating from on-premises to private and public clouds
