Wraparound Club Assistant

About Us

Harris Primary Academy Purley Way has been open since 2016 and is Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' in all areas. At full capacity there will be 21 classes from Reception to Year 6. We opened with a Reception cohort and are growing by a year group at a time with currently over 550 pupils on roll from Reception to Year 6.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Your role will be to assist the Leader in offering the children a wide range of play activities and ensuring that the club offers the children a relaxed, informed and caring environment, and your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of breakfast, snacks, cleaning away and washing up
  • Taking responsibility for a group of children as designated
  • Assisting in ensuring that the children are safe at all times, including drawing attention to any risks
  • Attending occasional staff meetings and training sessions
  • Accompanying the children on outings, accepting responsibility for the whereabouts and safety of a designated small group of children
  • Informing the Leader immediately of any incident which could be detrimental to the well-being of any child within the Club's care.
  • Generating ideas for and participating in new and improved play activities. This could involve offering a weekly activity, such as arts and crafts, sports or cooking.

Qualifications & Experience

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Early Years / Play-work / Teaching Assistant or equivalent
  • A First Aid Certificate (or willingness to acquire)
  • A Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to acquire)
  • Experience of working with children of relevant age
  • Experience of working with children who may have additional needs
  • The ability to encourage and inspire young people
  • Good organisational skills
  • Effective team worker
  • The ability to use your own initiative
  • The ability to work in a flexible way
