About Us: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated HSSE Lead to oversee and manage the health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) programs for a significant project in Cramlington. In this role, you will work closely with the Client SHE Team and contractor teams to ensure all HSSE practices meet regulatory standards and promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.

Job Summary: The HSSE Lead will be responsible for implementing and overseeing the Contractor's HSSE Program and ensuring adherence to the company's health, safety, security, and environmental policies. You will develop strategies with the Contractor to ensure compliance, minimize risks, and promote best practices in HSSE.

Key Responsibilities:

Health & Safety:

  • Review and evaluate the Contractor's health and safety programs and policies.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, review risk assessments, and lead incident investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Provide training and support on health and safety practices and ensure effective emergency response planning and drills.

Security:

  • Develop and implement security policies and procedures.
  • Conduct security risk assessments and devise mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement and security agencies.
  • Manage security incidents and investigations.

Environment:

  • Oversee the implementation of environmental management systems and policies by the Contractor.
  • Monitor environmental performance and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Promote sustainable practices and initiatives to reduce environmental impact.
  • Prepare and submit environmental reports and documentation.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ensure all HSSE activities comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and participate in inspections and audits.

Leadership & Communication:

  • Lead and mentor the HSSE team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in HSSE practices.
  • Communicate HSSE expectations and performance to senior management and staff.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate HSSE considerations into all operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in an HSSE role, preferably within [industry].
  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, CSP, or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of HSSE regulations and best practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and HSSE management software.
  • NEC Level 4 Qualification (Desirable)
