Overview
A warm and welcoming family is seeking a reliable and experienced Live-In Housekeeper / Cook to support the smooth running of their peaceful countryside home. The family of five, including three teenagers and a friendly dog, use this 8-bedroom property primarily for weekends and school holidays and consider it their sanctuary – calm, comfortable, and well cared-for, so they're looking for someone who brings a sense of pride and peace to the role.
Key Responsibilities
Housekeeping Duties:
- Full cleaning, tidying, and upkeep of the main house and occasional support with the guest cottage
- Laundry and ironing to a high standard
- Bed-making and linen changes
- Restocking household essentials and ensuring a high standard of cleanliness throughout
Cooking Duties:
- Preparing fresh, and healthy family-style meals when the family are in residence
- Grocery shopping and kitchen/pantry management
- Occasional baking or batch-prepping meals in advance of arrivals
General Duties:
- Coordinating with tradespeople, contractors, and deliveries as needed
- Liaising with the gardeners and handyman
- Maintaining a guest-ready, organised, and welcoming environment at all times
- Acting as a calm, discreet, and dependable presence on the property
- Some pet care as required
- Running errands
Working Pattern
- The typical work schedule includes weekends when the family are in residence, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays off
- Occasional travel or stay over at the family's London residence
- Greater flexibility is available when the family are not in residence
- This is a full-time role with more active periods during weekends and school holidays
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar live-in role,
- Confident and enthusiastic cook with a focus on healthy, seasonal, and family-friendly meals
- Self-motivated, discreet, and proactive with excellent attention to detail
- Happy to work weekends and adjust routines around the family's presence
- Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
- Full UK driving licence (car available for work use)
