The Role

They are looking for an experienced Book-keeper who will not be phased by handling multiple clients, with potentially differing requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive bookkeeping and small accounts services to our clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulations.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for clients, including recording all transactions, reconciling bank statements, and managing accounts payable and receivable.
  • VAT Returns: Prepare and submit VAT returns on behalf of clients, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Accounts Preparation: Assist in the preparation of small accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and other financial reports.
  • Invoicing: Generate and manage client invoices, ensuring timely payments and accurate records.
  • Expense Management: Track and manage client expenses, ensuring all receipts and transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Financial Reporting: Produce regular financial reports for clients, providing insights into their financial performance and assisting with decision-making.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients to obtain necessary financial information and provide updates on their accounts.
  • Software Utilisation: Utilise accounting software such as Sage, Iris, or other relevant systems to maintain client records and produce reports.
  • Compliance: Ensure all bookkeeping practices comply with current financial legislation and best practices.

Essential Experience & Skills:

  • Experience: Proven experience in bookkeeping, preferably within an accountancy practice.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, Iris, or similar is essential.
  • IT Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
  • Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a client-focused approach.
  • Autonomy and Teamwork: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse financial data effectively.
  • Qualifications: A relevant bookkeeping qualification (such as AAT) is desirable.
