Our client based in Corwen are looking for an Afternoon Production Shift Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. A well-established business, our client is looking someone to grow and develop within their role and can offer a future progression plan. As the Afternoon Production Shift Manager you will ensure smooth running of the shift, prioritising health & safety and food safety. operational KPIs of output, waste, product quality are recorded accurately and consistently achieved.

Performance Objectives

  • Be a Health and Safety Champion, always putting health and safety first and supporting and educating your team on best practices and procedures.
  • Hold your team accountable for their own health and safety by ensuring they always follow health and safety procedures.
  • Working closely with H&S to follow up on any H&S concerns raised by your team, and always communicating back to your team.
  • Embed a continuous improvement culture on shift by ensuring near miss incidents are reported, documented and feedback given back to your team on the issues raised.
  • Ensure Line Leaders are coaching and mentoring the team when procedures are not followed, and repeated issues or serious misconduct is escalated to you. Work closely with H&S and HR to resolve these incidences.
  • Create an environment where food safety is a priority.
  • Demonstrate critical to quality behaviours to embed that food safety and product quality take a precedence over product volumes.
  • Ensure all food safety processes are being followed
  • Ensure that any errors, hazards or breakages are escalated to you quickly and you work with on Shift
  • QA to review risk and any immediate action.
  • Work closely with technical team to ensure market leading product quality.
  • Be a role model for our client's values and hold your team accountable to these high standards.
  • Engage, motivate and develop your team whilst actively managing any behaviour or performance concerns.
  • Identify and support the training needs of your new and existing team members.
  • Manage, support & develop all employees on the shift ensuring that the team are adequately trained with good succession planning for the leaders and other key roles.
  • Manage the timesheet for the shift, ensuring this is accurate and up to date at the end of each shift.
  • Follow the appropriate process for approving leave for your team.
  • Working closely with HR, lead investigations, disciplinary or grievance meetings. Where appropriate and under the guidance of HR.
  • Supervise the smooth running of the Day Shift, being the point of contact for all management enquiries
  • Ensure that shift achieves the production plan with the best possible quality of bar minimising waste, rework and giveaway.
  • Manage the packing operation ensuring that the product is correctly labelled and efficiently packaged in accordance with the agreed technical standard & all production documents are completed correctly.
  • Record & assess all manufacturing KPI's including giveaway, waste and OEE ensuring that machine availability and performance are maximized & rework is minimal.
  • Complete all production reports including the shift report, labour analysis, waste reports, OEE and any other reports deemed appropriate to record the performance of the shift.
  • Prepare corrective action where required ensuring the route cause is identified.
  • Implement Continuous Improvement throughout the process identifying both short term and long term opportunities.
  • Assess opportunities to improve capacity for short term and long terms gain.
