We are currently seeking to appoint a Head of Diploma in Education and Training (DET) on a Full-time, permanent basis.

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a charismatic and experienced professional to join LSST as a Head of DET. The post holder will play a pivotal role in leading and managing the Diploma in Education and Training program and ensuring its successful delivery and continuous improvement.

This position requires a candidate with a strong background in education, excellent leadership skills, internal verification process, external verification process, Ofsted inspection and a commitment to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.

The incumbent will play a pivotal role in delivering, developing, and coordinating teacher training programs at LSST. Having a great awareness and understanding of education to its highest levels, the post holder must be able to build strong relationships with faculty members, senior management, students and all additional relevant stakeholders.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Working closely with all Departments, to provide leadership on curriculum and quality related matters on Diploma in Education and Training, including the development of excellence in teaching, learning and assessment.
  • To work with Academic Deans to develop and enhance their literacy, numeracy and employability skills.
  • To ensure the delivery of an effective curriculum and an enrichment programme for students across campuses.
  • To secure positive and productive relationships with awarding bodies and validating partners for programmes which are high quality and support students to progress.
  • To contribute to the management of relationships with external organisations, such as City & Guilds and Ofsted.
  • To contribute to the leadership and management of the college through effective team working with the Directors, members of the Strategic Leadership Team, and other senior academics.
  • Must be able of leading Ofsted inspection(s) independently.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development:

  • Lead the design and development of the DET curriculum, ensuring alignment with awarding body guidelines, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and the institution's goals.
  • Regularly review and update course materials to incorporate the latest advancements in educational practices and the awarding body's requirements.

Institutional Leadership:

  • Provide guidance, support and mentoring to teaching staff and foster a collaborative and innovative teaching environment.
  • Conduct regular observations and evaluations of course staff members to ensure high-quality delivery of the DET program.
  • Ensure compliance with awarding and regulatory bodies' requirements to an outstanding standard.
  • Ensure that high-quality teaching, learning and internal moderation across campuses are taking place.
  • Ensure the standardisation, synchronisation and harmonisation of design, structure, materials, documentation, practices and delivery across campuses.

Student Engagement and Support:

  • Implement strategies to enhance student engagement, motivation, retention, achievements and overall satisfaction in the course.

Quality Assurance:

  • Develop and implement processes for quality assurance, in conjunction with the Quality Unit, for continuous improvement of the DET program.
  • Monitor and analyse student performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures.
  • Capable to leading independently visit from external examiner. Must have experience of Ofsted inspection.

Professional Development:

  • Facilitate professional development opportunities for teaching staff to enhance their skills and stay current with educational trends.
  • Encourage and support ongoing professional growth among course team members.

Collaboration and Networking:

  • Collaborate with other academic departments, industry partners, and external stakeholders to enhance the DET program's relevance and effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with relevant organisations to provide additional resources and opportunities for students.

Compliance and Accreditation:

  • Ensure that the DET program meets all relevant accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare documentation for accreditation reviews and contribute to the institution's accreditation processes.

Reporting and Communication:

  • Prepare regular reports on the performance of the DET program for presentation to senior management.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and external stakeholders, fostering a transparent and supportive communication culture.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum a Postgraduate degree.
  • Must have a Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET).
  • Significant experience in teaching and educational leadership, preferably in the field of adult education.
  • Strong knowledge of educational trends, curriculum development, and quality assurance processes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of teaching professionals.

Location: W3 0XA, however, the post holder will be expected to visit and work across all campuses, as needed.
