Operations Manager - Repairs

We have an exciting, brand new opportunity to join us as an Operations Manager - Repairs! As part of our growth and development, we have a new Head of Repairs and Maintenance who is creating a new management team to enable us to continue to bring work inhouse. This role is responsible for analysing performance data to drive efficiencies and behaviours across the wider team, ensuring that repairs are fixed in full, on time, and first time wherever possible.

We own and manage c.7,500 homes in the east of England, working closely with other agencies and stakeholders within our communities. We build on the good foundations we have in place in being a customer-centric organisation, investing in our existing homes - including our zero-carbon journey - as well as building new homes.

Requirements

Outline of Key Responsibilities...

Strategic Leadership and Performance Analysis:

  • Provide operational management to the Repairs & Maintenance function
  • Analyse performance data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and implement plans to enhance repair effectiveness and first-time fix rates

Operational Efficiency and Continuous Improvement:

  • Use data-driven insights to optimise repair processes and resource allocation
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational efficiency
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and inform decision-making

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to trade supervisors, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability
  • Support trade supervisors in managing their teams, ensuring high performance and adherence to standards
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and facilitate professional development opportunities

Resource Management and Cost Control:

  • Hold accountability for budgets across the Repairs & Maintenance function
  • Monitor expenditure and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality
  • Ensure the effective utilisation of direct labour, contractors, materials, fleet and equipment

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and present regular reports on repair performance, outcomes, and improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate records of all strategic activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Use data and analytics to drive strategic decision-making and operational improvements

Site Visits and Field Support:

  • Conduct site visits to monitor repair activities and support Trade Supervisors as needed
  • Ensure that site operations align with strategic goals and performance standards

We are looking for someone who has...

  • Relevant building or trade qualification
  • Proven experience in a strategic operations management role within a repairs and maintenance environment
  • Experience in analysing performance data and implementing strategic improvements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams of trade professionals and supervisors
  • A proactive approach to safety and cost management
  • A team player who fosters collaboration and mutual support
  • Experience of dealing with employee relations issues, such as managing absence and disciplinary investigations with HR support
