Generator Engineer - Electrical

  • Are you an electrically qualified Generator Engineer with experience in the maintenance of generator sets or large engines?
  • Do you hold certification in 18th Edition and electrical inspection and testing (e.g., 2391/2-2395/6)?
  • Can you commission generator sets or similar power generation equipment?
  • Are you located in the Northwest, Staffordshire, or West Midlands with a full UK driving licence?
  • Are you open to carrying out mechanical repairs alongside your electrical duties when required?

If the answers are yes, DCS Engineering are working exclusively with a rapidly expanding generator and UPS company with major financial backing. Our client specialise in generator installation and maintenance, with projects all over the country. They are renowned for their strong staff retention rates, offering a stable work environment where employees tend to stay for many years.

What You Need:

Location: Based in the Northwest, Staffordshire, or West Midlands regions with a full UK driving licence.

Essential Electrical Competence: City & Guilds 2832 (18th Edition) and electrical testing/inspection qualifications (2391/2-2395/6).

Experience of working within the Generator or Large Engine industry

A willingness to perform mechanical repairs when needed.

A valid UK driving licence and willingness to participate in the 1-in-8 call-out rota.

Salary: Fully dependent upon your level of experience and training required, £35-55k

Overtime: Regular overtime opportunities available.

On-call Rota: 1 in 8 weeks.

Working Hours: 40-hour working week.

Training: A full training program tailored to your experience level including 'in-person' manufacturer training

Support: Full back-office support to minimize administrative tasks.

The Nice to Haves:

At least 5 years in the generator or large engine industry.

Familiarity with DSE (DeepSea), COMAP, or Woodward control panels.

Competency with diesel engine diagnostics and alternator types.

Basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PLC languages.

The Role Details:

Electrical Installation: Install control/power cabling between generators, panels, and ancillary equipment.

Testing: Conduct thorough tests of installations to NICEIC standards and client specifications.

Commissioning: On-site commissioning of generators and associated power systems.

Mechanical Repairs: Handle minor mechanical tasks when necessary.

Maintenance & Servicing: Perform generator load testing, electrical fault finding, and repairs.
