The Paralegal / Junior Legal Counsel Opportunity:

Our legal function currently comprises six lawyers in the US, and one lawyer in EMEA. You would be an addition to the legal team in EMEA (based in Luton), and report to the Legal Counsel, EMEA.

The UK legal team is responsible for supporting its operating divisions in the EMEA region, including the FBO/ground handling and MRO business, as well as advising on group corporate matters. You will support the EMEA Legal Counsel in providing a broad range of legal advice across the business, both at Group level and to the various operational divisions in the EMEA region. You will also work closely with in-house legal colleagues based in the US.

Hybrid working arrangements are available, however travel to our EHQ office located in Luton Airport at least twice a month is required. Having access to a car is preferred, as the location is not readily accessible by public transport.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Reviewing, preparing, drafting and negotiating a variety of bespoke and industry standard commercial agreements for the operational businesses and Group functions
+ Managing legacy litigation claims in the region for Signature Aviation Ltd and its subsidiaries
+ Offering legal guidance and advice to EMEA management
+ Coordinating with external lawyers to assess legal issues
+ Conducting legal research and monitoring the regulatory landscape
+ Assisting with the implementation and ongoing regulatory compliance requirements for the group
+ Assisting with debt collection matters
+ Assisting in the development and roll out of legal training to the business

About You:

Essential:

+ Strong academics of at least 2:1 or equivalent; must have completed either a law undergraduate degree or other undergraduate degree plus the GDL.
+ Completion of LPC/training contract is preferred
+ Some initial work experience in an international or national law firm or in-house is preferred
+ A self-starter with a willingness to learn and take the initiative when faced with new tasks/situations
+ Demonstrable experience in preparing, drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements
+ Demonstrable experience in managing litigation claims with outside counsel
+ Strong interpersonal skills coupled with a solutions-orientated and commercial approach to decision-making
+ Detail-oriented and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
+ Excellent time management and organisational skills
+ Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal clients, external counsel and the global Legal Team

Desirable:

+ Previous exposure to advising / working on multi-jurisdictional transactional work
+ Work experience in a previous in-house role, dealing with complex matters with multiple stakeholders
+ Experience with property and commercial law and/or the aviation industry
+ Knowledge of a second language (French, Italian, Greek, German)
