SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join our inclusive and supportive team at a special school catering to pupils with Severe/Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (SLD/PMLD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with complex needs. Our school is committed to providing exceptional opportunities for our pupils to excel both in and beyond the school environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Work effectively as part of the school team, collaborating with students, parents, carers, staff, and external agencies.
- Establish positive relationships with students, understanding and empathising with their needs.
- Provide individual attention and support to students, assisting with learning tasks as needed.
- Assist with the physical support of learners, including those who use wheelchairs or special seating systems, following appropriate manual handling training.
- Promote independence and self-care among learners, supporting with personal care tasks respectfully and with dignity.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate and work supportively within a team.
- Empathy and the ability to establish positive relationships with students with special educational needs.
- Willingness to support learners with physical and personal care needs.
- Experience in a classroom environment, particularly with special educational needs, is desirable but not essential.
- A respectful and ambitious attitude towards the potential of our pupils.
