Revenue Controller

My client an innovative legal firm are seeking a Revenue Controller to join our Finance Team, reporting to the Revenue Control Manager. The role involves supporting specific practice groups, managing credit control, billing, and WIP (Work in Progress) management. This position requires gaining in-depth knowledge about clients, managing the billing of matters, ensuring prompt billing, and securing swift payment of invoices. The Revenue Controller will regularly liaise with internal partners and employees at all levels, as well as external clients, applying an assertive yet tactful approach.

Day to Day of the role:

Support designated practice groups, alternating between the Finance team and legal practice groups to manage billing and credit control requirements.

Monitor billing and cash collection budgets and targets closely.

Liaise daily with a large portfolio of clients regarding their debts, predominantly via telephone, and update the firm's credit control system with action tasks and follow-up notes.

Review daily bank statements and TT payments to ensure funds are allocated correctly.

Administer payments by credit/debit card and ensure compliance with SRA rules.

Arrange and attend monthly meetings with Partners to review WIP and debtors, agree on actions, and ensure completion within agreed timescales.

Handle client queries regarding invoiced fees promptly and escalate as necessary.

Prepare debt reporting statements and liaise with cashier teams on cheque and bank transfers.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Excellent communication and persuasion skills with the ability to liaise effectively at all levels.

Confidence in placing pressure tactfully on individuals and companies who owe money.

Strong customer service/stakeholder management experience.

Excellent organisational skills with a flexible and adaptable approach.

Proficiency in numeracy and accurate reconciliation skills.

Good computer skills, with knowledge of Aderant systems being desirable; competent in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
