Part-Time Financial Controller

Location: Peterborough (Hybrid Work Model)

Job Type: Part-Time (3 days per week)

Salary £100k per annum (Pro rata) £60,000 salary based on 3 days per week.

Industry: Vehicle Warranty (Car Warranty Sector)

Reporting directly into our COO, this role will be a key management position in the business. It will see the successful candidate not only take full responsibility for the performance, wellbeing and behaviour of their team but also influence the wider business from products to processes. The enhancement of our Finance Department will encompass the internal production and processing of taxation, payroll and financial accounts preparation which is currently mostly outsourced.

The aspiration is the successful candidate will lead the internalising of as much, if not all, of these processes in addition to Board Pack preparation and the management of potential loan covenant and bank facility requirements as well.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the highest level of personal conduct and ensure that these are evident throughout your team as well.
  • Be able to use Xero accounting software and able to assist the business with moving to a new ERP software system.
  • In-house all functions currently undertaken by the external accountants.
  • Directly manage, support and develop the Finance Manager.
  • Prepare statutory financial accounts and reports and liaise with external auditors as and when required
  • Monthly Management financial reports to be prepared and overseen, including P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.
  • Prepare and run the payroll, VAT and corporate tax requirements.
  • Manage the relationship with the Bank and funders, which includes all banking transactions, bank account management and reconciliation. Includes Covenant monitoring and reporting to COO/Board.
  • Analyse financial data and report into COO with any findings or improvements.
  • Participate in the various budgeting processes

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven success in leading finance departments through periods of change and evolution.
  • The ability to lead, influence, develop and manage people with positivity and candour. Commercial awareness with regards mitigating risk and understanding compliance requirements.
  • Be a strategic thinker with the ability to drive your vision forward within the business.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels both internally and externally to suppliers as required.
  • The ability to propose with clear justification why the norm may not work in a situation. Able to create a team ethic of positivity and a culture of success in your department.
  • The ability to work under pressure to deadlines.
  • Build excellent relationships with other leaders in the business and drive the company vision
