We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Head of Year to join our pastoral team at an Academy in North West London. This role is pivotal in providing stability and implementing the pastoral and wellbeing programme that is crucial for the academic success and personal growth of our students.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Develop a culture that celebrates success and effort, ensuring the highest standards of behaviour, achievement, progress, and attitudes across a year group.
  • Lead and manage the work of year group tutors in promoting the best possible standards of learning, effort, and achievement in students.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Personal Development Curriculum (PDC) across a Year Group.
  • Enhance the teaching practice of tutors and serve as a role model in this respect.
  • Monitor the progress of students with a commitment to raising standards as they move through a year group.
  • Support the Academy Behaviour Team and ensure consistent and fair application of the Academy Behaviour Policy.
  • Support the Academy Safeguarding Team and ensure student wellbeing is maintained at the highest level across the year group.
  • Monitor the attendance of students within a year group, taking appropriate action as necessary, including interventions, home visits, and liaising with external agencies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Extensive teaching experience with outstanding teaching practice.
  • Successful management experience is desirable.
  • Experience in presenting to a wide audience.
  • Proven strategies to raise student achievement with evidence of success.
  • Experience in developing and sustaining positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the Governing Body.
