Apprentice Joiner

Reporting to the Property Services Manager, the Apprentice Joiner will contribute to all areas of carpentry and joiner within repairs, maintenance, servicing, and planned works. The apprentice will also complete a range of maintenance activities to a diverse customer base for Great Places Housing Group.

What you'll be doing, over time and with training and supervision of an experienced operative...

  • Repairing walls, doorframes, skirting boards or plaster damage to internal walls
  • Preparing of timber moulds for the manufacture of precast products
  • Measuring out on material from blueprints, drawings, or samples
  • Working on window and door repairs, kitchens fitting, flooring replacement and general joinery assigned tasks
  • Laying out marks
  • Communicating with various teams across the business
  • Respecting customer homes, leaving them clean and safe
  • Treating your customers with respect and empathy
  • Working 39 hours per week, starting from 8:00am

What you'll need...

  • GCSE maths and English or equivalent at grade C/4 or above, would be preferred
  • Good communication and willingness to build good rapport with customers
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as using your own initiative
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Good level of ICT skills and the ability to use technology such as a mobile phone, tablet and laptop
  • Eagerness undertake training and development
  • Positive and constructive outlook
  • Be able to attend college as part of the apprenticeship programme
  • Commitment to completing all parts of the apprenticeship
