This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year

We would welcome part time interests as a job share is very much a possibility.

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 3rd of July.

What it's like to work here

You'll be reporting to the Senior Visitor Experience Officer, working in a small team of staff and volunteers, across the Isle of Wight.

We are a varied team, with diverse skills, all working together with volunteers, the local community, neighbours, and other partners to look after these special places for all, now and in the future.

Isle of Wight is home to rolling downland, towering cliffs and golden beaches and we look after 5,500 acres and a third of the coastline on it. From ancient woodland to nationally important chalk grassland, and the only National Nature Reserve on the Island, our Countryside Team care for these wildlife-filled landscapes alongside a Property Team who bring to life historic buildings including the last remaining windmill, a battery perched on the tip of a cliff and an ancient manor surrounded by exotic gardens.

What you'll be doing

Being a Visitor Experience Officer for the National Trust is all about people – connecting with them, inspiring them, and making sure they have the best possible day when they come to visit.

Your main focus will be on providing a great experience for visitors. With your team, you'll be providing experiences and inspiring people to really get to know all Isle of Wight places. This might include devising and running events and activities and creating interpretive displays and other ways of bringing the places, and their stories, to life for everyone who visits.

You'll be sharing with others your love for your work and the places themselves. You might be encouraging visitors to take a closer look at artworks or precious objects cared for by the Trust. You might be supervising and supporting volunteers and organising rotas. You're likely to be checking standards of presentation on site or helping to write for our web pages.
