Cover Supervisor

Posted by Career Teachers.

Career Teachers are working with a number of schools in Leeds, who are looking for cover supervisors to work with them at short notice. The positions will start in September 2024, and continue throughout the year.

This role is perfect for someone who is considering a career in teaching as it will give you a great insight of what it is like to work in a school in a role that is similar to that of a teacher. Likewise, this would be a great opportunity for overseas trained teachers, looking to transition to working in schools in the UK.

It will be your job to cover pre-planned lessons when teaching staff are on short-term absence. You will be expected to manage the classroom in terms of behaviour and ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set. You could be covering a range of lessons across the curriculum, and it does not matter if you are not a subject expert in every one. Some experience is nice to have, but if you are a graduate just starting out, then I still want to hear from you.

You do not have to be a qualified teacher to do this type of work. It's more important that you have a natural affinity to working with children and can quickly build rapport with them. You will also be confident in managing large groups, and relish a challenge.

There are benefits to working with Career Teachers as we are able to provide work in a variety of different schools. We do also offer you plenty of free training, including cover supervisor training.

If you are interested in gaining this first-hand classroom experience, please do apply to this position and I will be in touch with you to arrange your registration.

At Career Teachers we are fully compliant with Agency Worker Regulations, ensuring you receive equal treatment for pay and conditions after a 12 week qualifying period. Please ask for further details.

All quoted rates are inclusive of 12.07% holiday pay.

Important Notice: In order for you to be successful in applying for the above position you should be eligible to work in the UK, or hold a relevant work visa. Safeguarding, quality and integrity are at the heart of what we do. During the application process you are required to:

  • Attend an interview in person;
  • Give details for us to complete Reference checks;
  • Provide an Enhanced DBS disclosure
