An innovative organisation in the utility sector is seeking a Technical IT Project Manager to lead the management and delivery of IT projects. This role involves overseeing the technical implementation and management of IT infrastructure, mobile workforce solutions, and network communications. The successful candidate will be a key business partner, driving the deployment of IT tools and infrastructure to ensure projects are delivered effectively and efficiently.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Develop detailed technical project requirements, scope, goals, and objectives, including the evaluation of project delivery options and the preparation of project documentation, reporting, and plans.
  • Manage large and/or technical/complex projects from inception to closure, applying agile methods to deliver benefits effectively.
  • Oversee the implementation of selected tools, systems, and infrastructure, ensuring project goals are met.
  • Collaborate with IT Operations teams to pilot changes and manage the handover to the ‘business as usual' model.
  • Work with the Head of Cyber and Ops to define the target support model for new technologies.
  • Define IT solution objectives, ensure delivery, and monitor benefits throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project performance, manage risks and issues, and integrate change management approaches into project delivery.
  • Manage project governance, resources, schedules, work packages, business readiness activities, and budget.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Technical IT Project Manager within an agile IT delivery environment.
  • Strong understanding of delivering technical products and services, including managing legacy IT infrastructure and IT operations.
  • Experience in managing medium to large-scale IT projects, including budget management and stakeholder communication.
  • Familiarity with agile and waterfall delivery techniques and working in a DevOps environment is desirable.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, APM) is desirable.
  • Strong financial management skills with experience managing projects over £1m.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Projects, and Visio.
  • Experience in the water industry or related industries (e.g., Energy/Telecoms) is desirable.
  • Experience working with third-party suppliers and IT Operations system implementation and management.
