Role Overview

We are seeking a Building Survey to join our team and contribute to the management of numerous complex projects that align with specific clients' requirements and location specific issues.

As a Building Surveyor, you will collaborate closely with a Pre-Construction Manager on the initial phases of new projects. This is a client facing role at the very earliest stages of the work streams. As well as complete understanding of the client requirements, brief compilation and in this role, your understanding of the selection of and appointment of all external consultants is key.

Your primary objective will be to ensure that the clients brief, and requirements are defined and delivered. The selection and appointment of the design team that will effectively deliver on your defined client brief will be key to delivering our company's vision.

Advising clients on schemes and projects and determine requirements to prepare scheme designs with costings, programmes for completion of projects and specification of works.

Work closely with the commercial team to organise documents for tender and advise on appointing contractors, designers and procurement routes.

Produce reports to determine the condition of existing buildings, identify and analyse defects, including proposals for repair, Including energy efficiency, environmental impact and sustainable construction.

  • Understanding of a client's requirements, processes and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Management of client in the early phases of any project
  • Collaborate with the design team and define delivery programmes
  • Take on special design tasks as and when required
  • Use feedback from other team members to improve overall performance of the Pre-Construction team
  • Advise on the management and supervision of maintenance of buildings
  • Deal with planning applications and advise on property legislation and building regulations
  • Assess and design buildings to meet the needs of people with disabilities
  • Instruct on construction design and management regulations
  • Carry out feasibility studies
  • Advise on the health and safety aspects of buildings

About You:

  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK
  • Experience in the construction field in a similar role
  • Ability to effectively lead a client through design process from RIBA Stage 0 – 2
  • Experience with standard suite of software packages
  • Understanding of visual presentation standards and elements
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • A keen eye for technical detail
  • Time management and multitasking abilities
  • Creativity skills and problem-solving aptitude
  • BSc/BA in Design or a related field
  • Strong understanding and demonstration of understanding of critical environment infrastructure, capital project delivery and energy management services.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • A decisive individual with the ability to work well under pressure.
