A excellent opportunity awaits an Assistant Buyer to join a leading global FMCG company located in Rochester, offering a salary of up to £30,000. This Procurement role has been established in response to business expansion and recent acquisitions. The successful candidate will be part of the purchasing department and will have excellent prospects for advancement into Buyer and Senior Buyer roles over the next few years.

Ideal candidates will possess prior experience in purchasing or procurement within an FMCG context and demonstrate a strong desire to advance their careers.

Role responsibilities of the Assistant Buyer include:

  • Planning, monitoring and maintaining suitable inventory levels
  • Raising, placing and tracking purchase orders
  • Ensuring products are purchased at the right time to specification
  • Conducting market research, identifying price trends and major market influences
  • Negotiating with suppliers and building positive relationships
  • Consolidating customer forecasts from the sales team to use as support for accurate stock holding

Person Specification of the Buyer:

  • Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement within an FMCG environment
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Confident using Excel and good knowledge of other Microsoft suites
  • High attentional to detail and organisation
  • Numerical and analytical skills
  • Keen desire to progress career

Salary

Up to £30k

This role is based fully on site with no hybrid working
