Quality Control Inspector

Job purpose: To ensure that all products meet the company's quality standards through inspection of received goods, work in progress and finished product. Also maintains documentation and record keeping. Opportunity to develop key quality skills and techniques for use within the business (Quality system Audit, Faro arm measurement, continuous improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify mechanical and machining materials based upon company drawings and test specifications.
  • Inspection of basic components for acceptance into the manufacturing operations
  • Inspection of Basic/ Simple fabricated and machined components to engineering drawings.
  • Perform mechanical inspections (under supervision) for components and completed assemblies, paint shop inspections, visual inspections, and thickness measurements.
  • Assist with the company's calibration program.
  • To integrate into the inspection, quality, and operational teams.
  • Complete all necessary documentation according to the company's requirements, (including timesheets,

NCR's. etc.)

  • Assist with the filing of Quality records.
  • Carry out job tasks safely using good working practises.
  • Ensure good housekeeping.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Quality manager.
  • Perform inspections on Basic components highlighting pass or fail status

Beneficial Skills / Qualifications

  • Apprentice trained in machine tools
  • Secondary education
  • ISO 9001 and ISO14001 experience
  • Lean manufacturing, TQM and continuous improvement tools such as PDCA, DMAIC, six sigma, 5S
  • Computer literate (MS Access and Excel)
  • Good communication skills, learning ability and proactive personality
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to co-operate and work well with others.
  • Continuous improvement techniques
  • Problem solving & root cause analysis
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings
  • An ability to understand drawings in line with basic quality control decisions
  • 1-2 years' experience in quality control activities within a mechanical component environment
  • Previous experience of using measuring equipment. (Vernier callipers, micrometres etc.)
  • Maintain behaviour in compliance with HSE requirements.
  • Maintain responsibility and accountability through personal commitment and behaviour.
  • Report any unsafe or environmentally unsound acts and conditions to their immediate Supervisor such that remedial action can be taken to manage the risk.
