Job Overview:

We are seeking a Fire Door Inspector to conduct inspections, assessments, and certifications of fire doors across the UK. This role involves significant travel and occasional overnight stays. Ideally, the candidate will be FDIS (Fire Door Inspection Scheme) qualified, but training is available for those eager to learn and develop their skills in this crucial area of fire safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspection and Assessment:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of fire doors in various commercial, residential, and public buildings to ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations.

  • Identify defects, non-compliances, and potential safety hazards, providing detailed reports on findings.

  • Recommend necessary repairs, maintenance, or replacements to ensure fire door integrity and functionality.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare comprehensive inspection reports, including photographs and detailed descriptions of any issues identified.

  • Maintain accurate records of all inspections and assessments conducted.

  • Provide clients with clear and actionable recommendations to enhance fire safety compliance.

  • Client Communication and Support:

  • Liaise with clients to schedule inspections and communicate findings effectively.

  • Offer expert advice on fire door maintenance, compliance, and safety improvements.

  • Support clients in understanding regulatory requirements and implementing recommended actions.

  • Training and Development:

  • Participate in ongoing training and development programmes to stay current with industry standards and best practices.

  • For those not already FDIS qualified, complete the necessary training and certification provided by the company.

Qualifications:

  • FDIS qualification is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for motivated candidates.
  • Proven experience in fire safety, building inspections, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of fire door regulations and standards (e.g., BS 8214, BS 476).
  • Excellent attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the UK and stay overnight as required.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
