Accounts & Payroll Assistant (progression to Assistant Accountant)

Based: Heywood

Salary: up to £33k + benefits including holidays, matched pension, discounts, healthcare and study support

Our client are a rapidly expanding manufacturer based in Heywood. Sitting as part of an international leading group, the business is well-established and continuing to grow within the UK, Europe and Internationally. Reporting into a fantastic Finance Director who we know well, you will be overseeing Payroll and Accounts duties for 8-9 months with a view to become an Assistant Accountant in future with the business providing full study support for ACCA/CIMA.

Please note we require someone immediately available to start OR on a short 1-2 week notice MAXIMUM!

Role:

  • Payroll - overseeing end to end UK payroll circa 150 staff
  • Ensuring accuracy across all areas, liaising with European Bureas on European Payroll
  • Processing SSP, SMP, Pension Payments, Loan deductions, Overtime and Shift work
  • Posting payroll journals and transactions onto SAP, utilising SAGE Payroll
  • Credit control - engaging with customers, monitoring and managing accounts
  • Sending monthly statements to customers, chasing overdue payments
  • Inputting receipts on SAP daily, maintaining clean debtors ledger
  • Attending Bi-weekly finance meetings with MD and FD
  • Updating daily banking information and processing daily bank payments

Role will progress to Assistant Accountant to include:

  • Assisting with month end duties including accruals, prepayments, depreciation
  • Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
  • Monitoring short term cashflow, providing 8 week forecast highlighting any issues to FD
  • Assisting with both group reporting audit and statutory audit
  • Assisting in the implementation and change of processes to increase efficiencies

Experience:

  • Payroll & Accounts experience essential
  • AAT qualified highly desirable. Study support on offer for future CIMA/ACCA studies
  • Hands on, keen to learn and develop
  • Strong communication skills
