Head Chef

We are looking for a Head Chef to join our client, a contract caterer, at a high end B&I site near Ascot, Berkshire.

As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for supporting & being responsible for the catering team including all sections of retail, deli, main kitchen, Vending, Hospitality, and café.

This Head Chef role offers a fantastic work life balance as the hours are Monday to Friday 7.30am-4pm.

Duties will include:

  • Plan, prepare, cook, and present food to a very high standard.
  • Create and develop the menu offers
  • Control portion size and monitor waste.
  • Ensure full compliance with company policy around Allergen control & Kcal legislation
  • Stocktaking, ordering and maintaining records.
  • Ensure Health and Safety, food Health & Hygiene and legal Food Safety Standards are maintained.
  • Ensure critical budget targets and monthly food GP% are achieved.
  • Help set team objectives / PDR with site Operations Manager and be responsible for the day to day running & management of the kitchen.
  • Assess employee performance and recognise training needs and potential as appropriate.

The ideal Head Chef should have/be:

  • Display a passion for food, knowing current food trends.
  • Good secondary education
  • NVQ qualification / Diploma / Degree or equivalent in hospitality
  • Successful progressive background in B&I contract or high street commercial restaurant catering
  • Intermediate Current Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Strong Supervisory experience
  • Strong financial acumen with ability to cost menus, events & functions.
  • Computer literate with Word & Excel software.
