Planning Manager

Our client is the market-leading and international supplier of aluminium food packaging, renowned for innovation, quality and service. As they continue with their ambitious growth plans, they are seeking likeminded individuals to support and enhance them on their exciting journey.

As a Planning Manager, you will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of the manufacturing schedules. You will liaise closely with Production Manager, Commercial Team and the rest of the Supply Chain team for optimal production and supply schedules, supporting the operation department to optimise and sequence output in line with Coppice's targeted goals.

Responsible for the direct management of the Planning Department, you will provide guidance and leadership to ensure effective operations and service are maintained.

You will serve as a primary point of contact for and liaison with sales, logistics and manufacturing departments.

As a Planning Manager, you will be working Monday to Friday, to:

  • Develop, maintain and review production plans and scheduling documentation; ensuring that they are providing the required level of information to ensure our customer orders are being produced as required as well as planning for safety stock requirements and seasonal lines
  • Ensure MRP runs are interrogated and managed
  • Set production plans and challenge production on the adherence to plan
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to establish schedules and plans that allocate available resources to best serve client or customer needs
  • Periodically compare current and anticipated orders with available inventory of raw materials; use judgement to anticipate demand for and to acquire additional supplies as needed
  • Manage the Runners, Repeaters and Strangers analysis and process
  • Integrates sales orders with master schedule; coordinate availability of raw materials, supplies equipment and staff as needed to meet delivery dates
  • Participate in regular forecasting meetings with sales, marketing and other related departments; leads additional planning meetings with sales, production, shipping, purchasing and customer service staff
  • Drive production to meet ‘run at rates' to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Report and graph production throughput, scrap & plan adherence
  • Produce weekly management reports
  • Look to drive a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and innovation, with an emphasis on embracing technology to maximise efficiency
  • Ensure any liabilities are understood and approved
  • Ensure and maintain a safe working environment by adherence to HSE requirements
  • Complete Hazard Tags where required
  • To monitor and develop own skills and those of team members in line with business needs

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

  • Significant experience within a manufacturing planning & scheduling role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal Skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Thorough understanding of supply chain
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Extremely proficient with production planning systems (Finite and infinite planning processes)
  • Ability to be flexible, be readily adaptable and work in a rapidly and constantly changing environment
  • Excellent team player but also self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
