Day-to-day of the role:

  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality PE lessons across all year groups, ensuring that teaching is engaging and inclusive.
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the PE department, setting clear objectives and outcomes.
  • Lead, manage, and support the PE teaching staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of PE teaching and learning, providing guidance and professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Engage with students to promote a positive attitude towards physical health, fitness, and sportsmanship.
  • Organise and manage sports events, fixtures, and extracurricular activities, enhancing the school's sports profile.
  • Liaise with senior leadership, parents, and external organisations to champion the role of PE within the school and wider community.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A recognised teaching qualification and QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
  • Proven experience in teaching PE and leading a department or team.
  • A strong track record of improving PE teaching standards and student outcomes.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • A deep understanding of the PE curriculum and current educational practices.
  • Commitment to professional development and staying abreast of innovations in physical education.
