Our client a market leader, within the insurance industry is seeking an experienced Motor Trade Underwriter to underwrite new and existing Motor Trade business.
The successful candidate will develop strong relationships with new brokers, existing brokers and clients. You will support the development of cross class business opportunities and participate in the review and analysis of a Motor Trade portfolio to identify progress towards the business plan.
Duties:
- Underwrite individual insurance applications to cover Motor Trade risks with guidelines set for the issuance of policies on a standard or substandard basis.
- Determine whether to accept, modify or decline a risk through evaluation of the property's value, location, usage, and safety features, and other information pertinent to the decision.
- Gather information on which to base and defend underwriting decisions.
- Support Senior Underwriters in servicing and management of the account.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Intermediate level understanding of relevant software, including excel and other departmental software packages
- Strong and proven underwriter experience specialising within Motor Trade, ideally a specialist, though applicants with general commercial background are suitable
- Holding or working towards one of the Chartered Insurance Institute
- Strong technical Insurance expertise
- Qualifications, Cert CII, Dip CII or ACII would be an advantage.
- Property and casualty underwriting knowledge would be beneficial.
- Detail oriented.

- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
