Description

  • Responsible for management of rental income to ensure accuracy of rent accounts and service user information held on the rent management database
  • To process rent and payments received on the housing management system in order to achieve rent collection and arrears targets.
  • Ensure all debts are pursued with the resident and local authorities ensuring all actions are recorded and payment plans are agreed with the resident.
  • Effectively implement the rent arrears procedure to ensure warnings and eviction notices are served in a timely manner and in accordance with legal procedures
  • Pass to Finance colleagues all requests for relevant council tax payments from local authorities
  • Ensure receipts from the council are correctly allocated between rent accounts
  • Input bank credits to match bank receipts from finance and posting onto the system
  • Work closely with the Head of Finance and support them with the month end reconciliation of receipts and arrears balance
  • Run monthly rent reports as directed by Head of Housing and Head of Finance
  • Work closely with the Finance Officer (income) in relation to any queries about rent charged and payments received.

Profile

  • Knowledge and experience of workings of supported housing, social housing, and the private rented sector
  • Accurately reconciling data and other financial information
  • Understanding of working within Equal Opportunities and diversity issues.
  • Understand rental housing processes.
  • Working with a computerised rent/payment database and other IT packages
  • Demonstrable experience of processing rent income and payments on a housing management system
  • Demonstrable experience of tenancy enforcement measures regarding rent non-payment
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • To be a team player and to contribute to team practice
  • Ability to use own initiative and be a good problem solver
  • Able to manage time effectively and prioritise conflicting demands for self and others.
  • Good presentation skills, able to present effectively and professionally to other agencies.
  • May be working towards an accountancy degree
