Learning & Development Manager

Posted by Morgan Law.

We are delighted to be working exclusively with the London Borough of Waltham Forest to appoint an L & D MANAGER for the wider OD Team. The closing date for applications is 10th September.

Waltham Forest is a vibrant, young, diverse, and culturally rich borough that has made major progress in the past ten years. We're committed to building on our progress and we understand the potential we have to inspire and create opportunities that help make Waltham Forest a more equal place for everyone.

Mission Waltham Forest is our plan and ambitious vision - the answer to the challenges we face and the borough's ambitions for the future we want to help. It puts our staff and members at the heart of shaping our work. It recognises that diversity of thought is our strength, breaking down barriers and hierarchy, creating new opportunities as demonstrated in our Inclusion Action Plan.

The Team

We are building on the great work of the People Strategy 2021 - 2025 to set out how we are going to undertake Workforce and Culture Transformation and to achieve Mission Waltham Forest.

This work is rooted in 3 clear pillars:

  1. Build a highly engaged, productive and diverse workforce that represents our community at all levels.
  2. Be an employer of choice by creating meaningful jobs and career paths for ALL staff, including under represented groups.
  3. We must build, retain and recruit inspirational leaders who empower staff at all levels to take the lead to improve services for residents.

The Role

As the L&D Manager, your key deliverables will be:

  • Modernise the L&D offer for all employees
  • Identify and implement talent interventions and career pathways for all levels, and in particular under represented groups
  • Design and support the delivery of Leadership Development Programmes
  • Work with senior stakeholders to implement complex projects and embed them across the organisation
  • Ensure that there is a comprehensive way to understand the workforce voice, create an inclusive culture and shape organisational priorities

To be considered you need to have experience working at this level within an L&D function and ideally have management experience as this role has 2 direct reports. Interviews are likely to take place on 30th September

Equal Opportunity Employer:

London Borough of Waltham Forest is one of the Mayor of London's Good Work Standard employers. This accreditation is a proof of our commitment to creating a healthy, fair and inclusive workplace. This includes fair pay and conditions, workplace well-being, skills and progression and diversity and recruitment.

To support the above and reduce the risk of bias, the council is operating an anonymous shortlisting process, which hides personal information that can identify individuals until their application has been considered for shortlisting. This includes those candidates who self-identify as having a disability for the purposes of the Disability Confident scheme.

We are keen to support employees to balance their working life with other commitments so wherever possible, we will consider flexible working.
