Monday – Friday

9am – 5pm

£23,500 (rising to £25,000 after probation)

We are currently recruiting for a well-established manufacturing company, who are well known in their field and are now seeking a new Product Design Assistant.

Role:

Working within the wider team, as the Product Design Assistant, you will report directly to and work closely with the Product Manager, as well as providing assistance to the Project Manager. Within this position you will play a key part in drafting and design, developing prototypes all the way through to production – offering assistance and collaboration along the way.

As the Product Design Assistant, in addition to the above, you will be expected to:

  • Utilise Solidworks to create drafts and designs, always looking to improve the designs and your own skills.
  • Develop operational prototypes, and again improve along the way.
  • Work with colleagues and support others in the team where needed (a collaborative approach is key!)
  • Work with the Product Manager to prepare for client meetings.
  • Attend client meetings and contribute to discussions, offering technical advise.
  • Preparation of costings.
  • Assist with keeping the ERP system accurate and updated.
  • Maintain the BOM.

Requirements:

To be successful as the Product Design Assistant, you will ideally have experience within a similar position, and it is imperative that you have experience of Solidworks. You will be wanting a role that encapsulates both project management and design/product development, as well as looking to stay within this position long-term.

In addition to the above, you will offer:

  • Strong time management skills.
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Hands-on approach with a proactive attitude towards problem-solving and teamwork.
  • Positive manner and ability to tackle challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels or seniority.
  • A relevant qualification in design/engineering would be beneficial.
