Warehouse Operative
Location: Gateshead
Salary: £11.84 per hour
Hours: Rotating shifts, 06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00, Monday to Friday
Our client is seeking a full time permanent Warehouse Operative to join their team in Gateshead. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to upskill.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate 5-ton overhead gantry cranes in both dual and single hoist modes using radio remote or pendant control. Always perform personal risk assessments to ensure safe body positioning.
- Work effectively as part of a team, supporting colleagues where needed to achieve operational goals.
- Safely load and unload steel from incoming and outgoing trailers, ensuring secure handling and transport of materials.
- Safely store and retrieve steel from various stock locations and saws, maintaining organized and efficient stock management.
- Conduct and document pre-use equipment checks on machinery, saws, cranes, mobile plant, and other equipment before operation to ensure safety and functionality.
- Operate mobile plant equipment, including forklifts, side-trackers, side loaders, and Combi lifts, to facilitate safe storage and retrieval of materials, provided the necessary training has been completed.
- Drive road-based vehicles on-site for loading and transportation purposes, ensuring safe movement of materials, provided the necessary training has been completed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous experience operating overhead gantry cranes highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with mobile plant equipment and safe material handling practices.
- Strong awareness of personal safety and the ability to conduct thorough risk assessments.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of operational safety and efficiency.
