Location: London

Directorate: Core Clinical Services Hours per Week: 37.5 Duration: 3 months

Purpose: To carry out specialist MR and CT duties in the dedicated cross-sectional imaging suite in a paediatric tertiary referral center. Working in conjunction with the superintendent radiographer,

Clinical duties:

  • Clinical Duties involve performing pediatric MR and CT scans at a high professional standard, using advanced software for specialized imaging techniques. Responsible for MR/CT post-mortem pathology cases. Maintain high imaging and patient care standards, prioritize daily workload to ensure timely patient care, handle emergency procedures promptly, and collaborate with neuro and cardiac research teams.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance testing, perform venepuncture and intravenous cannulation, apply anesthetic cream as per protocol, monitor stock levels, handle patient inquiries, and fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent Radiographer and Service Manager.

Teaching and Training Duties:

  • Supervise student radiographers on elective and mandatory placements in the Trust.
  • Keep up to date with current imaging and professional issues.
  • Monitor own performance to ensure delivery of high-quality, efficient, and effective service.
  • Maintain Continued Professional Development through regular clinical and technical knowledge and skills updates. Attend all mandatory clinical training updates as specified by the Trust.

Administrative Duties:

  • Ensure sufficient staff with appropriate skill-mix are allocated to own area for safe operation of equipment and patient safety.
  • Carry out clerical duties related to radiographic work and assist administrative personnel in appointment scheduling and handling queries.
  • Ensure all examinations are accurately entered into EPIC.
  • Archive all patient image data to PACS accurately and in a timely manner. Liaise with clerical and secretarial staff in booking appointments.
  • Organize and submit the GA list in advance without the administrative clerk.
  • Handle messages and queries related to future MR/CT appointments.
  • Ensure complaints and incidents are handled in accordance with Trust policy. Adhere to all Trust and Directorate policies.
