We are seeking an ambitious Audit Semi Senior to join the growing team of our client, a chartered accountancy, tax, and business advisory firm based in Colchester. This role offers the opportunity to work on a range of clients, handling both large and small audits, as well as preparing statutory accounts and tax returns. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality service, with opportunities to mentor junior staff and grow within a supportive environment.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Completing sections of the audit pack and preparing statutory accounts for companies, partnerships, and sole traders.
  • Completing all substantive tests with minimal supervision and resolving simple queries.
  • Supervising and reviewing work of junior staff and completing stock takes.
  • Managing own time and that of any junior staff, recognising any problems at an early stage to ensure that jobs are completed within budget.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Studying professional stage ACA or ACCA, or AAT qualified and wishing to study professional stage ACA or ACCA – with experience in practice
  • Double entry bookkeeping skills
  • Basic tax knowledge – how to prepare corporation tax computations
  • Computer experience – Sage, Excel, Word and ideally CaseWare
  • Previous experience of supervising junior members of staff preferable (6-12 months experience)
  • Good up-to-date technical knowledge including recent developments in accounting standards
  • Communication – oral and written, ability to deal with variety of people in different environments
  • Organised – ability to deal with a variety of tasks and managing a varied workload
