Area Senior Educational Psychologist

Posted by The Guardian.

We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for you to join our cohesive leadership team as an Area Senior Educational Psychologist (ASEP) in Hampshire Educational Psychology (HEP).

HEP is a large, thriving service with a positive national profile, and currently includes 68 EPs, 8 SEPs, 4 ASEPs and 1 PEP organised across 4 area teams. HLT are proud of the service they lead and are looking forward to you joining a leadership team which is collaborative, supportive and creative. We have good processes in place for developing the service and ensuring we are well connected with services across Hampshire County Council. Strong relationships enable us to work at our best as psychologists, and our psychology is valued. EPs enjoy working in Hampshire because of the variety of the work, the warm welcome we receive in our settings, and the relationships that we build. We have a reputation for innovation and there are many opportunities to work collaboratively. Our practice keeps children and families at the heart of what we do, whether through assessment approaches, consultation or person-centred planning which is a core part of our service delivery.

We provide the educational psychology statutory duties for children and young people across Hampshire. We also have a strong trading relationship with over 550 schools, academies and colleges and a number of established commissions with the wider local authority including work with our Children's homes, with designated teachers and Mental Health Support Teams. We have a number of well-established projects which combine training and supervision, for example ELSA, TALA (Therapeutic Active Listening Assistant), Cognitive Behaviour Approaches and EBSA. Many of our projects ensure that supervision and coaching are a part of delivery to support implementation and ensure our contribution can truly make a difference. We apply our psychology to our delivery processes.

As a service we have a strong commitment to supervision and development of our EPs with an ongoing programme of CPD; we are a learning organisation. Over recent years, we have been working on new initiatives such as MeLSA and MAML. We have office bases, good quality resources and excellent admin support. Our teams are well-connected, have a strong sense of belonging and meet on a fortnightly basis.

Your role would be to lead a team of Psychologists (the East Area Team, which covers Hart, Rushmoor and East Hampshire) within a values-led leadership team. You would be working closely with your two SEPs and be part of the HEP Leadership Team (HLT). You would also be part of a peer group of ASEPs, along with a business manager and data analyst. There are opportunities to be leading initiatives in your Area Team and across HEP.

To be successful in the role, you need to be a fully qualified Educational Psychologist with successful experience as a practicing Psychologist in a Local Authority EPS, working across the age-range 0-25 years. You also need to be experienced in managing professionals as well as leading and delivering multiple projects. You will be required to travel to various locations within Hampshire, and it is essential that you have a current drivers' licence and access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis.
