Position: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: Bolton, Greater Manchester
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Salary: £17,500-19,500 per annum

Role Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Special Needs Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support the learning and development of students with special educational needs (SEN), ensuring they have access to a broad, balanced, and inclusive curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with special educational needs, both on a one-to-one basis and in group settings.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensure that the specific needs of each child are met.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to adapt and deliver lesson plans that accommodate the learning styles and abilities of SEN students.
  • Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers, parents, and relevant professionals.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting the social and emotional well-being of all students.
  • Assist with personal care needs as required, ensuring the dignity and well-being of the student.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in SEN education.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a SEN environment.
  • A relevant qualification in education or childcare (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools).
  • Strong understanding of SEN and strategies to support children with various needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, learning disabilities).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational development of children with special needs.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and procedures in an educational setting.
