What's it all about?

The Financial Reporting & Control team are responsible for the day-to-day management of the purchase ledger and are responsible for financial reporting, including month end reconciliations, producing management accounts, tax compliance, and our Annual Report.

As Finance Associate, you'll be responsible for operating the purchase ledger: managing purchase orders, processing invoices, obtaining approvals, and preparing payment batches. Working to deadlines to make sure payments are accurate and on time, you'll work in a well-controlled manner, maintaining books and records.

You'll experience a diverse range of challenges and opportunities to grow and develop your technical and practical skills. You'll need to communicate with the rest of finance as well as management throughout the bank, our procurement/legal teams, and external suppliers. There is also the opportunity to study towards a professional accounting qualification to ensure you have the technical skills needed.

You will:

  • Own key purchase to pay processes including management of the purchase ledger.
  • Process supplier payments.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare Payments Practices reporting and calculate metrics such as number of days taken to pay suppliers.
  • Be a key finance contact within the Bank for accounts payable.
  • Support in month-end processes including prepayments, accruals and maintaining asset registers.
  • Post journals to our general ledger system.

What do we need from you?

  • Be proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Highly organised with great attention to detail
  • Hard-working and self-motivated with a desire to gain a professional accounting qualification.
  • Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Capable of self-review - can check own work for inaccuracies.
  • Good communication and team-working capabilities
