Electrical Actuators Engineer (PLCs / Automation) £44,000 - £47,000 + Private Medical + Benefits Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire

We are looking for an engineer to provide product support to our European subsidiaries. The role involves supporting SMC Electric Actuators by answering technical questions, assisting with customer applications and troubleshooting. This support will involve setting up and programming PLCs, motor drivers and industrial communications (PROFINET, EtherCAT, IO-Link, etc.).

The successful candidate will also be required to design and deliver training courses/presentations to European subsidiaries, write user manuals and technical guides, and carry out investigations and tests to evaluate SMC products.

Our European Technical Centre is currently expanding, providing growth opportunities for those who join. As part of our global development team led by Japan, we are focused on delivering solutions to our customers that are innovative and future proof.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A Degree or HND Qualification - Electronics, Electromechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Minimum 1 year relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of PLCs and Ladder or Structured Text programming language
  • Knowledge of electrical motion control for industrial applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as you will be required to write detailed, technical reports and product documentation
  • The ability to occasionally travel to Europe

Desirable, but not essential skills:

  • Experience of inspecting and testing devices
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic and electrical test equipment
  • Experience to plan and manage projects
  • Technical product support experience
  • Experience of delivering technical training
  • Experience with some industrial communication protocols for example PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT and IO-Link
