Material Science Engineer

We are seeking a Materials Science Engineer for our Huddersfield site. This is a 12-month onsite role with the possibility of extension or transition to a permanent contract.

Ideal candidates will have 1-2 years of experience in a similar role and hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science/Engineering or a related field.

Experience in the automotive industry is beneficial but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead laboratory requests and small projects.
  • Test and approve components against internal specifications.
  • Provide feedback to design reviews.
  • Conduct failure analysis of test and field components.
  • Support R&D projects related to aluminium components and processing.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with aluminium alloys.
  • Proficiency in failure analysis and problem-solving.
  • Industrial experience, particularly in automotive, is beneficial.
  • Laboratory experience including sample preparation, microscopy, analysis, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of materials characterisation equipment (metallographic preparation, optical microscopy, SEM).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
