Management Accountant

Well respected company based in Truro, Cornwall are looking to recruit an experienced Management Accountant.

The Management Accountant plays an essential role within the group bringing together financial and non-financial information to portray a complete picture of the businesses. You will be part of a small team who will help prepare the management accounts up to trial balance level, with a focus on our project based activities. Your input and analysis will allow senior management to use financial information to inform business strategy, as well as contributing to decision-making that will ensure business growth and long-term success.

Responsibilities:

You should be confident in analysing financial information to allow the organisation to make well-informed decisions to ensure future stability, profitability and growth. You will help improve value in all areas of the business by managing and reducing operational and production costs and assisting in implementing the most effective strategies. You will ensure adherence to all financial process and policy.

  • Prepare the monthly management accounts to trial balance level.
  • Ensure all control account balances are reconciled monthly.
  • Produce basic overhead accruals and prepayments for all entities. Ensure all group recharges are accurately processed each month.
  • Oversea sign off and submission of monthly VAT return.
  • Produce monthly contracting project analysis, and the monthly project cost accruals and income recognition.
  • Analyse project expenditure and communicate this with project managers.
  • Assist the Financial Controller with the preparation of overhead analysis, to include the use of excel to present information.
  • Assist in the year end audit and annual stock verification exercise.
  • Help develop cost accounting practices within the manufacturing business.
  • Provide guidance to the finance team on construction VAT rules and general VAT rules.
  • Oversee the monthly credit card analysis and challenge where spend falls outside of our business expense and credit card policies.

EXPERIENCE

You will have experience in a Management Accountant role and be fully conversant in double entry bookkeeping and experience in preparing accruals and prepayments. Experience in managing a small team is desirable, along with exposure to a project based construction environment and knowledge of CIS and RCV.
