The Role

As an Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in helping us deliver high-quality projects by accurately estimating project costs. You'll use your knowledge of sheet metal fabrication (or transferrable skills) to assess project requirements, source materials, and ensure we offer competitive, accurate, and profitable estimates.

Your Responsibilities

Cost Estimation

  • Analyse project documentation such as plans and bills of quantities.
  • Use our internal software to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates.
  • Provide insights on factors that could affect costs and how they might impact the final estimate.

Procurement Liaison

  • Collaborate with our procurement team to source materials from approved suppliers.
  • Ensure that material costs are always competitive and up to date.

Risk Assessment

  • Assess the operational risks associated with projects.
  • Work with the Commercial Manager and MD/Director to ensure profitability and mitigate risks.

Customer Engagement

  • Liaise with new and existing customers to understand their needs.
  • Follow up on quotes within 7 days to ensure effective communication.
  • Maintain detailed records of estimates, customer interactions, and project documentation.

We're Looking For Someone Who Has

  • Experience in sheet metal fabrication or similar industries.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer software.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness and a deep understanding of the construction industry.
  • A keen eye for numeracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to influence decisions and work well within a team.
